Driveways
Pattern imprinted concrete is the ideal material for surfacing your new driveway.
It comprises of a solid slab of fibre reinforced concrete laid on a hardcore foundation. Once screeded to the required levels a coloured surface hardener is broadcast over the concrete and trowelled in. This results in a wear resistant layer that is harder than a standard slab of concrete. As the concrete is firming we lay urethane texture mats onto the concrete to impress the chosen patterns into the very surface layer of the hardened concrete. The concrete needs to be allowed to cure for a required period of time before we apply any final colour effects and multiple coats of penetrating acrylic lacquer with a non-slip additive. The sealed surface repels oils, dirt, stains and stays looking good for years to come with the minimal amount of maintenance.
One of the primary considerations is that of drainage of the new surface. We ensure that all our driveways comply with the legal requirement as regards to new driveways without the need for planning permission. We also make sure that any drainage we set up will cope with some of the extreme weather we experience throughout the year.
The majority of domestic driveways do not require the addition of steel reinforcing, however if we identify the need for its use we will propose that it is included. All our manhole covers are always surrounded with specially designed reinforcing mesh to prevent the most common instance of cracking on concrete paving.
As you can see from some of the pictures of our work that by using colours and patterns in different combinations the resulting effect is hugely versatile. We are able to advise you as to designs and layouts that will enhance your property as well as creating an area that meets your needs on a practical level also.
